Pilates for Athletes in Las Vegas

Elite Athlete Development at Blue Chip Conditioning uses reformer Pilates to build the qualities athletes rely on: a strong and stable core, mobile hips and shoulders, balanced strength on both sides of the body, and the control to produce power efficiently. It complements your sport practice, strength and conditioning, and any guidance from your team’s medical staff. The goal is simple — help you move better so you can perform at your best.

The precision with which Pilates targets different areas of the body is what makes it valuable for athletes. Instead of only training big movements, Pilates also develops the smaller stabilizing muscles and body awareness that support speed, rotation, landing and change of direction.

What Athletic Pilates Training Focuses On

Core strength and power transfer

Almost every athletic movement — a swing, a throw, a sprint, a punch — transfers force through the trunk. Reformer work strengthens the deep core and back so that force moves efficiently between the lower and upper body.

Mobility and flexibility

Spring resistance lets athletes move through a full range of motion under control, helping hips, spine and shoulders stay mobile through long seasons.

Balance and single-side strength

Many sports load one side of the body more than the other. Unilateral exercises on the reformer help identify and address imbalances.

Body control and injury-aware training

Controlled, low-impact movement builds awareness of alignment and mechanics. Pilates is not a substitute for medical care; athletes returning from injury should follow their physician’s or physical therapist’s guidance and share restrictions with their instructor.

Blue Chip Conditioning

Sport-Specific Pilates Training

Your program is built for the demands of your sport. We train athletes in:

  • Baseball and softball: rotational strength, shoulder stability and hip mobility for throwing and hitting.
  • Golf: trunk rotation, hip mobility and balance through the swing.
  • Tennis: shoulder stability, lateral movement control and rotational power.
  • Running, triathlon and cycling: hip and core stability, posture and efficient movement over long distances.
  • Swimming: shoulder mobility, trunk control and a long, streamlined body position.
  • Basketball and football: landing mechanics, change of direction and full-body strength.
  • Hockey: hip strength, balance and rotational control.
  • MMA and boxing: core stability, rotational power and mobility.

How the Elite Athlete Development Program Works

  1. Assessment. Your sport, position, season calendar, training load, goals and injury history, plus a movement assessment on and off the reformer.
  2. Program design. Exercises and spring settings chosen for your sport and your body.
  3. Coached sessions. Most athletes train in private sessions for sport-specific programming or in semi-private sessions for coached training at a lower cost.
  4. Season planning. Training emphasis shifts between off-season, pre-season and in-season so Pilates supports, rather than competes with, your sport schedule.

Who the program is for

Our training is for established elite athletes as well as ambitious up-and-comers: professional and college athletes, high school competitors, weekend warriors and adults returning to sport. Young athletes can also see youth athlete Pilates.

Training Through the Season

Off-season

The off-season is the best time to build a foundation: address imbalances, restore mobility after a long season and develop core and full-body strength. Athletes often train more frequently in this phase.

Pre-season

Sessions shift toward sport-specific movement patterns, rotational control and preparing the body for the demands of practice and competition.

In-season

During competition, Pilates focuses on maintenance: mobility, body control and staying balanced without adding fatigue. Session length and intensity are adjusted around games, matches and travel.

Returning to play

Athletes coming back from injury work within the guidance of their physician, physical therapist or team medical staff. Pilates is not medical treatment, but it can be adapted to support a gradual return to training once you are cleared.

Pilates vs Traditional Strength Training

Strength training builds force with heavy loads. Pilates complements it by developing:

  • Deep core stability that helps transfer force between the lower and upper body
  • Mobility under control, with strength through a full range of motion
  • Balanced strength between sides of the body and between front and back
  • Body awareness — understanding how you move, which supports better mechanics

Many athletes keep their strength and conditioning program and add Pilates one to three times per week.
